Rule Agreement

Skiatook Softball Association Code of Conduct

It’s simple: Be a good sport! This code of conduct has been developed by the National Youth Sports Safety Foundation (NYSSF) and Skiatook Softball Association Board.

Teams and spectators should demonstrate good sportsmanship. Team chants/cheers, spectator and coach’s comments should not be derogatory or demeaning towards opposing teams, players, or coaches.

Parents/spectators are NOT PERMITTED to coach from the bleachers or sidelines. Opposing advice from parents in reference to the coach on the field is unacceptable; however, cheering on your child is very acceptable. Parents/spectators are to refrain from any coaching/opposing advice towards their child/player that could interfere with the coach’s decisions. It creates confusion for the player and conflict between parents and coaches.

Parents, spectators, or players are NOT PERMITTED to approach the score table or umpires at any time. Only the head coach or assistant coach has the authority to speak with the score table or umpire if there is a question regarding the awarding of a run or to get clarification of an official call. Judgment calls are the umpire’s discretion and are not up for debate.

Spectators, parents, and coaches will be a positive role model for children.

Spectators, parents, coaches, and players will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or spectator such as booing, taunting, refusing to shake hand, physically confronting, or using profane language or gestures.

Spectators, parents, coaches, and players will not encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and wellbeing of the athletes.

Spectators, parents, and coaches should praise their team members for competing fairly, trying hard, and make the players feel like a winner every time, regardless of the score.

The use of drugs, tobacco, vape products, non-tobacco products, and alcohol during youth sports is prohibited by City ordinance. Spectators, parents, coaches, and players will refrain from their use during all league activities.

Each team’s coach is held responsible for the conduct of their fans/spectators/parents/team participants.

Officials and the Skiatook Softball Association Board have the authority to remove a player, coach, parent, and/or spectator from a game and can declare the game a forfeit due to unsportsmanlike conduct.

No physical altercations of ANY KIND are allowed. First offense is a suspension for the rest of the season, second offense results in one (1) year loss of eligibility in all league play or indefinite suspension if deemed severe.

If spectators, parents, players, and/or coaches fail to abide by the code of conduct, they will be subject to disciplinary action as decided by the Skiatook Softball Association Board. Disciplinary action could include, but is not limited to: verbal warnings, written warnings, ejections, and suspensions for various lengths and reasons.

Any player, coach, parent, or spectator ejected from any league activity is suspended for a minimum of one (1) game from all Skiatook Softball league activities. The suspension could be longer depending on the severity of the infraction and number of times said person has been suspended. Immediate suspensions from any and all league activities for any reason are at the discretion of the Skiatook Softball Association Board. Suspensions are not eligible for appeal. Suspensions carry over from season to season and are enforced for all Skiatook league activities.

Players, coaches, parents, and/or spectators who have been ejected must leave the complex and may not return until the completion of their suspension.

Disciplinary actions include:
1st offense - removal and suspension from one game
2nd offense - removal and suspension from two games
3rd offense - removal and suspension from the rest of the season
4th offense - removal and five (5) year ban from Skiatook League
